In this scene, a low class civilian family evacuates their cabin as Federal soldiers arrive. I worked with state agencies to release this historic structure. Also found a great wagon team with trained mules.

To recreate large scale battle reenactments, I cast nearly 200 authentic living historians with period correct late war impressions. We shot on private land and built several battlefield sets.

In this scene, Union soldiers are cut down by Confederate fire. I managed the special effects crew, as we created multiple mortar explosions and mini-ball squib hits.

To catch the action of Sherman's full-frontal assault, 6 cameras roll including a 25 ft CamMate. A scissor lift gives the special effects crew an aerial view to safely trigger 6 consecutive mortar hits.

Historically accurate, full scale Civil War entrenchments were built to create the Dead Angle set. I worked with historians and contractors to design and build these extensive sets.

To bring these sets to life, I dressed the entrenchments with ammo boxes, tent fly's, barrels, haversacks, cooking equipments and reenactors.

Several stunts were created for the Cheatham Hill charge scenes. Gymnasts and trained combat actors were rehearsed to give the impression of brutal hand to hand combat.

Handheld camera gives this scene more visceral drama as Confederate soldiers are hit by surprise Union mortar fire. Stunt actors were trained and rehearsed to fall with authenticity.

A 25 foot CamMate flies over Confederate trenches during the Cheatham Hill Charge scene. I managed the construction of the historically accurate, full scale Civil War entrenchments.

In this dramatic truce scene, Confederate soldiers wave a white flag to suspend the battle to bury the dead. Extensive make up was employed to show burned and dead bodies 4 days old.

Smoke machines created the perfect haze to take advantage of golden hour light in this scene with litter bearers saving wounded soldiers.

Union soldiers discover that the Confederate Army has disappeared ending the battle. I managed the construction of the entrenchments and all set dressing.
